Terms of service

These terms apply from 2026‑08‑25 to everybody using nodo.lt, on a paid plan or on the free one. They are written in ordinary language, because terms that have to be read twice are terms nobody reads.

What the service is

Nodo returns the text of Lithuanian legislation as it stood on a date you name, together with the window that text was in force for and a link to the Register of Legal Acts. It is reached as an MCP server at https://mcp.nodo.lt, using a personal key.

The service answers only when it can confirm the answer. When it cannot - because of a gap in the edition timeline, an act outside the curated catalogue, or data too stale to stand behind - it says so and gives the reason. Such a refusal is not a finding that no such rule exists.

Plans and limits

A unit is one answer that returns statute text. Finding an act, listing its editions, previewing upcoming changes and reading metadata all cost nothing. A refusal costs nothing either: charging for our own gap would be unfair, and worse, it would give the service a quiet reason to refuse more often.

Plans, monthly allowances, the daily free-call ceiling and team size
Plan Units per month Free calls per day People
Trial3001,0001
Praktikantas5,0005,0001
Biuras30,00030,000up to 5
Istaiga100,000100,000by agreement

The allowance is counted per calendar month in UTC and resets on the first of the month, not on the anniversary of the subscription. When it runs out the server answers 402 with the plan name, the limit and the date the allowance renews. The free tools keep working. The service never quietly answers worse in order to fit inside a limit.

The free tools cost no units, but they are not unlimited. Finding an act, listing its editions, looking at what is scheduled, searching articles and listing annexes spend no part of the monthly allowance, and that does not change. They do carry a separate ceiling per day per key, shown in the table above. It is counted per day in UTC and lifts at midnight; reaching it returns 429 with a Retry-After header, and leaves the monthly allowance untouched. This is a rate limit and not a bill: 402 means "buy more units", 429 means "wait". The ceiling is set where bulk extraction begins rather than where ordinary work ends, so real use does not reach it.

Biuras is sized for a team of up to 5 people working from one shared key, and the 30,000 units a month are shared across all of them. The key may be used by a person or by an automated agent. What has been spent is readable at any time by calling GET /usage with that same key.

Prices and VAT

Every price on this site is quoted excluding VAT. The tax is calculated by Stripe from the buyer's country at the moment of payment. A business buyer in another EU member state who supplies a valid VAT number is handled under reverse charge.

A subscription renews automatically - monthly or yearly, whichever was chosen - at the same price, until it is cancelled. Any price change is announced by email at least 30 days in advance; if the new price does not suit, the subscription can be cancelled before it takes effect.

Cancelling

A subscription can be cancelled at any time and without a reason, either in the billing portal - the link is given when the key is issued - or by writing to [email protected]. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period: until then the service works exactly as before, because that time has been paid for.

We may in turn withdraw access where a key is used in a way that harms the service or other users - shared more widely than the plan allows, for instance, or used to copy the whole catalogue systematically. In that case we write first and refund the unused part of the period.

The 30-day money-back guarantee

If within thirty days of your first payment you decide the service is not for you, we refund the whole amount. No reason has to be given and nothing has to be proved - one email to [email protected] is enough.

A refund stops the key working. That is automatic: the refund revokes the key at the same moment, with no separate step on our side.

The guarantee covers the first payment. It does not extend to later renewals, because by then the service has been used for a month - but cancelling is possible at any time and the next payment simply does not happen.

Your key

The key is shown once, immediately after payment. Only its cryptographic digest is stored, so it cannot be shown a second time - to you or to us. If it is lost, write and a new one will be issued; the old one stops working at the same moment.

Keeping the key safe is your responsibility. If you suspect it has been seen by somebody else, write and it will be replaced immediately and at no cost.

What this service does not do

This is published legislation, not legal advice. The service returns the official register's text with its validity window; it does not assess your situation, does not draft documents and does not replace a lawyer. How a rule applies to a particular case is decided by a person.

The catalogue does not hold every Lithuanian legal act, but a curated set of them. Which ones is visible in the list of acts, and that list is built from the same source the server answers from.

Source and licence

The data is published by the Office of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the State Data Agency under CC BY 4.0. Validity windows are read from the Register of Legal Acts. The attribution travels in every response and must be preserved if the content is passed on.

A subscription grants the right to use the service for your own or your organisation's work. It does not grant the right to resell access or to offer it as your own product.

Liability

We work to keep the service available and its answers exact, but we cannot guarantee that without qualification. It depends on an official register we do not control and may be unavailable for maintenance or through failure. Our liability is therefore limited to what you have paid in the preceding twelve months.

This does not limit liability in the cases where Lithuanian law does not allow it to be limited, and it does not limit consumer rights granted by mandatory consumer-protection rules.

Who is selling

The service is provided by Nodo, trading at nodo.lt. General questions and invoices go to [email protected]; support and subscription matters to [email protected]. We answer the same working day.

Payments are handled by Stripe. Card details never reach our server - they are taken by Stripe on its own page.

Disputes are settled by correspondence first. Failing that, Lithuanian law applies. A consumer may also approach the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority or use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change. Substantial changes are announced by email at least 30 days in advance, and the top of this page always carries the date the current version applies from. If a change does not suit, the subscription can be cancelled before it takes effect.
